Triangular shape with dull lights. 11 May, 2017

At about 0100 on the morning of May 8 2017, I was outside my house having a cigarette after getting home from work late. As usual, I was standing outside the pool yard and casually looking up at the stars. The night had some high cirrus type clouds and the moon was up. I was trying to identify some constellations but the near full moon made it hard to see the stars of low magnitude. I was scanning with the naked eye an area to the south, about where the Southern Cross was. While looking, a moving pinpoint of light caught my attention. I watched it for a few seconds when I realised it was in fact 3 lights in a triangular shape. The lights were moving at a slow speed, slower than a jet airliner would be moving. Besides, at that hour there was would have been no aircraft flying because of curfew. The object was moving from the south east to north west. It looked like the object was roughly the size of your thumb held at arms length. I watched the object for at least 10 minutes with a pair of 7 x 50 binoculars, during this time the object changed direction at least 4 times. It seemed to move at 90 degrees when it changed course. The object then proceeded in a northerly direction at the same speed and went behind the cirrus clouds. I was unable to re-acquire the object after that. I have no idea what it was.
