Shailer Park, Thursday December 3 1998, 11.00pm

A man and three other witnesses observed a bright “star” to the north-northwest like burning aluminium for 90 minutes at an elevation of 45 degrees. The object seemed to be right out in space and flashed no colours. It seemed to be 5 times brighter than the MIR Space Station. While stars were moving to the west and setting, the light was essentially stationary and moved contrary to the stars. It had a small tail which changed to two “wings” during the observation.
