Regency Downs, Wednesday November 18 1998, 3.15 am to 3.30am

A man with four years’ navy experience observed five objects while watching for an expected meteor shower. They appeared in the east one at a time, and their respective motions were north to south, west to east, overhead to southwest south to north going from horizon to horizon, and north to south. The lights had the brightness of normal stars, appeared to be moving faster than commercial planes and displayed no navigation lights. The apparent motion was two to three times faster than the Space Shuttle, which is about 3 degrees per second when overhead. He flashed his torch at a “UFO” several times, and it responded to these signals. Earlier that night he had seen a dull star emit a “big” pulse of light.
