Monto [near Bundaberg], Friday February 4 1999, 7.15pm

A witness reported seeing a round ball in the northeast sky for about 15 seconds. It left a bright yellow trail, was about a quarter the size of the moon, and made no noise. It seemed to brighten and then was gone. [With an apparent size of 1 in 400, it could not be space junk, or a meteorite. Such objects are usually seen at altitudes of 30 to 150 km, and would have to be 100 meters or more in size. Also the duration is too long for meteorites, although acceptable for satellite]
